Biography
After completing his secondary studies in his hometown, he enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Genoa, where he graduated in 1955 and obtained his specialization in Odontostomatology in 1959.
His true orthodontic training, however, took shape at the School of Orthodontics at the University of Cagliari, the first established in Italy, where he was part of the very first class. This experience made him one of the first generation of Italian orthodontic specialists.

Alongside his clinical practice, Cozzani dedicated himself intensely to research and teaching.
In 1967 he was among the founders of the Gruppo Italiano Studio Ortodonzia (GISO), a platform that encouraged scientific exchange and professional growth among specialists.
He also played a decisive role in the birth and development of the Società Italiana di Ortodonzia (SIDO): as a founding member, he contributed to shaping its scientific and organizational framework and later served as its President in 1995, strengthening its prestige and role as the main national reference point for orthodontics. Within SIDO, he promoted an interdisciplinary approach and encouraged dialogue with the international orthodontic community, helping to establish it as one of the most dynamic scientific societies in the field.

This decision led him to found in La Spezia the Centro Studi e Ricerche di Ortodonzia (CSRO), which soon became a reference center for research, teaching, and advanced training in orthodontics. The CSRO hosted courses and seminars attended by both Italian and international professionals and trained generations of orthodontists, many of whom went on to become some of the most renowned names in the field.
This decision led him to found in La Spezia the Centro Studi e Ricerche di Ortodonzia (CSRO), which soon became a reference center for research, teaching, and advanced training in orthodontics.
